Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Service / Head of House to oversee front-of-house operations for a premier private estate in Muskoka. This role is designed for a highly polished service professional capable of delivering exceptional guest experiences while coordinating a dedicated service team and maintaining seamless day-to-day operations throughout the summer season.
Key Responsibilities
- Guest Relations: Greet family members and guests; manage arrivals, departures, and professional luggage handling.
- Dining & Beverage: Oversee meticulous table settings, formal meal service, and beverage programs.
- Inventory Management: Maintain precise inventories of specialty food items, wine, spirits, and cigars.
- Team Coordination: Collaborate closely with the Chef, Housekeeper, and Property Manager to ensure fluid estate operations.
- Staff Leadership: Manage and schedule service staff.
- Estate Presentation: Ensure all common areas and guest-facing spaces are pristine and presentation-ready.
- Procurement: Manage household supplies and guest amenities, ensuring timely restocking.
Schedule & Availability
This is a seasonal position requiring a high level of commitment during peak periods.
- Operating Hours: Daily shifts typically begin at 7:00 AM and conclude by 11:00 PM when the Client is in residence. Breaks during this period are to be negotiated. There will be gaps of time/weeks where the facility will not be occupied.
- Holiday Requirement: Full availability is mandatory for all major 2026 holiday weekends and the holidays themselves, including:
- Victoria Day (May 18)
- Canada Day (July 1)
- Civic Holiday (August 3)
- Labour Day (September 7)
- Thanksgiving (October 12)
- Flexibility: Days off are scheduled during periods when the Client is not on-site, allowing for downtime between high-activity visits.
Accommodations & Compensation
- Housing: Private onsite housing is provided for the duration of the contract term (April 13 – November 1).
- Compensation: Compensation is market-leading and will be negotiated commensurate with the candidate’s specific experience and expertise.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in high-end private service or luxury hospitality
- Leadership: Prior supervisory or lead service experience is strongly preferred
- Attributes: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and strictly discreet
- Logistics: Valid driver’s license and ability to commit to the full seasonal schedule and the extended hours required during guest stays. A boat operator’s certificate is desirable.
